A startrescue.co.uk story...

The Geneva Motor Show is the largest annual auto expo in Europe. All the big-name car makers are there, plus scores more smaller players you’ve probably never heard of. The March show is also very popular with the Brits because you can go for the day. Geneva is less than 90 minutes from many UK airports and the Palexpo venue is a 10 minute walk at the other end. This year’s motor show was about as upbeat an event as I can remember, and I’ve only missed one of the last 12. Not surprisingly 2009’s was doom and gloom, but 2010 was all about new product. There were fewer wacky concept cars than in the past – they cost too much money to make and serve little practical purpose – but new production vehicles littered virtually every stand. As it has been for the last two or three shows, the major theme was environmental motoring. More hybrids, plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles are on their way. Don’t like the idea? Better get used to it.
