The 66th Frankfurt Motor Show is well underway, with most of the world's leading carmakers in attendance. Here's a rundown of the most important moments so far...

  • As reported on this blog, Aston Martin has let visitors take a closer look at its DB10 model –

used exclusively in the upcoming James Bond movie, Spectre.

  • BMW's Harald Krueger fainted during a presentation, citing a busy travel schedule as the reason.

  • Jaguar's F-Pace was unveiled and driven round a loop-the-loop track, breaking a Guinness Word Record in the process.

  • Audi has created holographic images of some of its new cars. It also kept its brand new S4 (C) model under the sheets until the last minute.

  • Toyota has been letting visitors test drive some of its latest models using a virtual reality headset.

  • Lamborghini was one of the few car firms to use glamour models to show off its new Aventador SV Roadster.

  • Ever heard of the Borgward? You will soon. It's an old German brand that died out in 1961. Now it's back with something called a BX-7.

  • Bugatti unveiled its Vision Gran Turismo concept car – giving a hint at the firm’s direction now it has ceased to build the Veyron after a production run of 450.

  • The new Opel (Vauxhall) Astra was unveiled by GM's chief executive Mary T Barra.

  • The Smart marque gets a sporty overhaul with the Fortwo cabrio.

  • Porsche unveiled its Mission E concept car, boasting a 582bhp electric drivetrain and dazzling looks that may worry the current electric car supremos, Tesla.
