Jezza. Jeremy. Mr Clarkson. He's always in the headlines for something. So much so that we must know everything about him, right? Possibly not. Here are 10 things you probably don’t know about Jeremy.

1. Clarkson wasn’t always so ambitious

Jeremy's wife Francie has said that he wasn't always the go-getter. Speaking to the Sunday Times in 2007 she said: “He had just started in television then and was mostly watching Danger Mouse and playing Scrabble with his mates; I was the one who went out to work every day in the power suit.

 “He was very sweet, he’d do the shopping and the cooking – he even did some ironing for me.”

2. Jeremy loves France

Mr Clarkson once told the Sunday Times: “It’s Val d’Isère, where you go skiing, and St Tropez, where you go to the beach. It’s fast trains, and nuclear power stations and the fading splendour of Biarritz. It’s snails, and cheese and wine, and bougainvillea-dappled sunshine."

Many people once urged Clarkson to be Prime Minister in a 2008 petition. However, Clarkson said he would be a "rubbish" PM because when writing his newspaper columns he had trouble contradicting himself.

He doesn’t think grown men should cry, but did get teary when his pet donkey died and at the Michael Caine film Educating Rita.

8. He is a big supporter of the UK armed forces

He has even taken part in a sponsored bike ride to raise funds for Help for Heroes.

9.  He once sold toy bears

Clarkson’s first paid job involved selling Paddington Bear toys for his parents’ company.
